Quentin Jensen and Shawn Michaels

As WWE WrestleMania XXV approaches, it reminds us of the time Major League Wiffleball superstar Quentin Jensen (in the white shirt above) was leading Arena security through the crowd at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY. Jensen was attempting to break up fights in the stands between WWE Raw Superstars Shawn Michaels, Batista, and Ric Flair, the latter of whom shoved Quentin aside into a railing, giving him a bruise.

Jensen, who moonlights as a security guard, was the head security officer on duty the night WWE Raw visited the Pepsi Arena (now the Times Union Center). A two-time winner of the MLW Most Feared Player Award, Jensen kept the crowd under control, but couldn’t prevent Shawn Michaels from entering a corporate suite and attacking Triple-H, his rival at the time. (It’s fake, I know.)

While working backstage, Jensen got to spend the day with many of the wrestlers, along with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and his daughter, Stephanie McMahon. He even had Ric Flair buy him a sandwich for lunch, but the bruise Quentin received later on from Flair goes to show there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Quentin also had the privilege of driving Shawn Michaels to Albany International Airport after the show was over. This has earned him the title “Mr. WiffleMania”.

At another WWE event, Quentin said he was very close to persuading WWE Superstars Edge and Christian to come to a scheduled MLW regular season game just a few miles away at MLW headquarters in Cohoes, NY, but the two had to leave Albany for a WWE house show in New Haven, CT. If they came, it would have “reeked of awesomeness“.

WrestleMania XXV (yes, that’s 25), will take place in Houston, Texas on Sunday, April 5th. It’s the biggest event of the year for the WWE; it’s their version of the World Series.
