Shopping for Wiffle Balls

Every year, it’s a good idea to replace old Wiffle Balls with new ones. Over time, some get cracked, some get worn out, and sometimes you just want a brand new one for a Major League Baseball player to autograph.

So I thought it was time to go shopping for some new Wiffle Balls. I went to my local Toys R Us, but was surprised that they don’t sell official Wiffle Balls there. They had other plastic baseballs from other manufacturers, but no official Wiffle Balls.

From there, I drove across the street to one of my local malls. I went to Sears and a Toys R Us Express. Again, there were no Wiffle Balls. I decided to try Boscov’s, and was lucky to find a small display of boxed Wiffle Balls there. They were $1.49 each. I thought that was a pretty good price, but I didn’t want to stock up right away without checking some other stores, so I only bought two.

A few days later, I went to the largest mall in my area. I stopped into Dick’s Sporting Goods, but again only found plastic baseballs there. This mall also had a Toys R Us Express, and in the window, I spotted a Wiffle Ball and bat set. It’s a 32-inch plastic yellow bat and Wiffle Ball in a display. I asked the employee if they sold individual Wiffle Balls, but he told me they only carry the Wiffle Ball and Bat set. This is a great option for anyone getting started, but I already have a bunch of Wiffle bats and I didn’t need any extras. Plus, I prefer the black Louisville Slugger plastic bat. None of the other stores sold Wiffle Ball equipment, so I left the mall empty-handed.

On my way home from work the other day, I stopped at the Sports Authority. I was surprised to see they had a good selection of Wiffle Balls. They had bagged 3-packs, and individual Wiffle Balls in plastic bags. Then I noticed the price. $7.49 for a 3-pack, and $2.49 for one ball! No thanks. I can get them for a buck cheaper at Boscov’s.

I then went to my favorite store — Amazon.com. They sell one dozen Wiffle Balls for $18.75. That’s $1.56 per ball. And since I’m an Amazon Prime member, I get free 2-day shipping.

So for the few times that I’m at the mall, I can buy Wiffle Balls for $1.49 each.

And the rest of the time, I can pay a few pennies more, I don’t have to leave my house, and they’ll be at my front door in 2-days. That might be the best way to buy Wiffle Balls.
