Is it Really Opening Day?

Today is opening day for Major League Baseball, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s time to rush out and play wiffleball. Right now, many wiffleball fans around the country are struggling with rainy days, 40-degree high temperatures, and school is still in-session. For most of us, it’s just too early to start a wiffleball season. We’re better off staying indoors.

That’s not a big problem though. After all, wiffleball is a summer sport. Even our spring training didn’t start until the end of May. So while it might not be a good idea to start playing wiffleball yet, this is the perfect time to start thinking about starting your own league, or come up with new rules to improve your existing league.

One thing that you can do is take a trip to a local sporting goods store and look for new equipment that you might want to purchase. Maybe you want a new backstop, or to try out a new type of ball, other than a Wiffle Ball. Maybe you’ll find the perfect wiffleball bat, or some fielding equipment. Or, you can just look around online for wiffleball tips and ideas. Amazon.com is a good choice.

Just because the baseball season is starting today, it doesn’t mean that it’s time for wiffleball. If you’re lucky enough to live in a warm climate, then by all means, go out and play. For the rest of us, we need to remember that wiffleball has it’s own season, and it’s still a little over a month away.
