Jensen gets rocked

Quentin Jensen pitching It was perhaps the greatest wiffleball game ever played at The Sac. For one reason only. Quentin Jensen allowed 6 runs in one inning in by far the worst outing of his career.

Jensen took the mound in the fourth inning with a one-run lead and lost it. Prior to that he had pitched sharply, as usual, but got hammered when he took the mound in his last scheduled inning. Joe Yerdon started the rally with a single. Shaun Breen followed with a towering first-pitch 2-run homer to left field. Matt Ceccucci added a solo shot to left. Yerdon came up again, and once again singled. Breen blasted another 2-run homer, and Matt Ceccucci hit another solo homer as he and Shaun went back-to-back twice in the same inning against arguably the most dominant pitcher in MLW history. Jensen fought back though and struck out Yerdon and Breen to end the inning.

"He must have been throwing 100 after allowing all those runs", said his opponent Shaun Breen. "Quentin throws hard, but I've never faced him when he's thrown that hard. He takes it seriously when people get the best of him."

Going into the bottom of the third, Quentin's team had a 7-0 lead. However, Marc Ceccucci allowed 7 runs, as Joe Yerdon's team tied it up, making it a whole new ball game. Shaun Breen then allowed a tape measure shot to Quentin Jensen in the top of the fourth, to make it 8-7, but Jensen couldn't hold the lead as his team fell behind 13-8. Jensen did homer in the top of the 5th, but it wasn't enough as his team lost 13-9.

The game ended on a fantastic catch by Joe Yerdon. Yerdon robbed Mike Breen of a solo homer as he jumped and back-handed the ball in mid-air to rob Mike of what would have been his third homer of the game. Mike was also robbed in the third inning as Shaun Breen took away what would have been a grand slam. Mike Breen now has an all-time-high 22 home runs on the season.

After the game was over, Shaun Breen commented, "This is why we play the games. Today we learned Quentin is human."

Jensen had allowed two home runs the previous week. The first, a grand slam to Brian Glasser in a relief appearance. The second, Mike Breen's record-breaking 19th home run of the season.

Jensen will be unable to make the August 25th game day, meaning his arm will have plenty of rest before his next scheduled game on Labor Day weekend.
