Eric Coons officially out for remainder of season

Eric Coons bats with an immobilizer on his right leg. Ironman Eric Coons made a brief return to action following successful surgery to repair his torn ACL. Coons came in to relieve Joe Yerdon in game 12 after Joe was pulled. Coons got out of the jam, allowing no runs and going 2-for-4 with a double at the plate.

Despite his success Eric's doctor has ordered him to avoid all athletic activity for three months which will sideline him for the remainder of the 2002 season. Instead, he will attend games to heckle players over the public address system.

Eric had played in every inning of every MLW game in the league's 2+ year history, however he tore his ACL in spring training, forcing him to miss opening day and ending his streak at 51 games. Amazingly, Eric came back to play in 5 games, four with the torn ACL.

It is hoped that Eric will make a full recovery and be healthy enough to start a new streak in 2003......that is, if the league is still around then.
