'Ironman' Eric Coons Returns Again

Eric Coons After attempting a comeback just several weeks following successful surgery to repair his torn ACL, Eric Coons said he was done for the year. His doctor told him to avoid all kinds of physical activity for at least three months. But Eric has decided to go against his doctor's orders and play anyway.

"He told me it feels good," said Commissioner Shaun Breen commenting on Eric's right knee. "I don't think it's a wise move, but we're glad he's willing to play, especially in our version of the World Series."

Eric qualified for the postseason after playing in just a handful of games. He ended this season in seventh place. The top eight advance.

Recently, Eric has been playing in a limited role. He was the official pitcher for one inning, pitching to both teams; he has pinch-hit and also served as a designated hitter. However, when he hits the ball, a teammate must run for him. And it's unlikely that Eric will be able to play in the field.

"How many times to I have to stress this is all about having fun," asked the Commissioner. "If we have to bend the rules a little to let Eric play, then we will. It's more fun for everyone that way.....as long as nobody gets hurt."

Eric's injury occurred in a preseason game while trying to avoid a tag at second base.
