When will the 2002 regular season end?

We're approaching the final weekend of the 2002 regular season, yet only nine of the sixteen games scheduled to this point have been played. It forces the question, "What's going to happen?"

Commissioner Shaun Breen isn't sure. He says it all depends on one person: Joe Yerdon. See, Joe will likely be moving to Bristol, Connecticut to take a job at ESPN Radio this summer. So the longer Joe sticks around, the longer the season will be. Ideally, Breen would like to get in a twenty game regular season and then a best-of-seven playoffs, but admits that may not be possible.

Here we reward the guys who have been around for a while. The season starts and ends each year to accomadate as many returning players as possible. If Joe is leaving in mid-August, the season will end in mid-August. It's that simple.
