About
Joe Yerdon: Joe is a guy that just about everyone
fears when he's on the mound, but not as much when he's
at the plate. However, Joe is a very streaky hitter, and
often comes through with runners on base. He has a Randy
Johnson-like fastball, and thanks to Quentin Jensen's
advice, is finally gaining control of where it goes. Joe
has some pop in his bat, but he needs to work on hitting
singles and doubles, not just the long-ball. Oh, and he
knows Lance Bass from *NSYNC. Seriously.
2002
Outlook: In the 2000 playoffs, instead of throwing
a fastball on every pitch, Joe kept hitters guessing at
what he was going to throw next, and reduced his number
of walks en route to the first win of his career. Joe's
assortment didn't work so well in 2001 though, so he went
back to throwing mostly fastballs in order to save his
stats. It will be interesting to see what will work for
Joe in 2002, but chances are he'll figure out a way to
get hitters out.
