Canada Day

Hartford Whalers jersey It’s always a good idea to add special elements to your Wiffle Ball games to make them even better. Today is a perfect example — it’s Canada Day.

One easy thing to do is to wear a hockey jersey. If you don’t have a hockey jersey, you can get one here.

Now, you might not want to play for too long in a hockey jersey because it can be really hot out in July, and you don’t want to get overheated. Back when MLW was just getting started, our own Joe Yerdon and Eric Coons arrived to a Canada Day game wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey, and a Montreal Canadiens jersey. I couldn’t find any photos of that, but a Hartford Whalers jersey (shown above, also worn by Joe) is just as good for Canada Day, and better on any other day of the year.

We’re not saying to go crazy and start pitching hockey pucks, or wear ice skates. However, if you could somehow pull-off a Wiffle Ball game on ice in the summer, I’d love to see that.

A few years ago, our favorite Canadians, Edge and Christian from the WWE, nearly accepted an invitation from our own Quentin Jensen, to play Wiffle Bball with us, but needed to head off to New Haven, CT for a house show.

So maybe ask Wayne Gretzky’s wife for some hot betting tips, play Anne Murray music, tell everyone about your favorite hockey site, drink Labatt Blue (if you’re over 21), or just do whatever is fun and gets a laugh. Just try to keep it Canadian. That’s the point for Canada Day.

And if you’d rather wait until the weekend, and celebrate America instead, the Fourth of July is only 3 days away. Or just do both!
