AL Central Showdown Tigers/Twins

TC Minnesota Twins Mascot Most of the baseball playoff races were decided weeks ago. It looked like the American League Central was among those, but the Twins are keeping it interesting, and the race with the Tigers is really heating up.

When Justin Morneau was declared out for the rest of the season with a stress fracture in his back, I thought the Twins didn’t have a prayer. But Joe Mauer is having an MVP-like season, and Michael Cuddyer and the rest of the team has really stepped-up.

The Detroit Tigers still have a 2 1/2 game lead with a week-and-a-half left in the season. During that time, the Twins and Tigers will meet in Detroit for a 4-game series, that will most likely determine who wins the AL Central championship. Minnesota may also benefit by having 6-games against the 4th place Royals, while the Tigers have 6-games scheduled against the 3rd place White Sox.

Of course, we’re all rooting for the Twins here. After all, TC, the Minnesota Twins mascot, held a wiffleball in his mouth for us!
