World Series Winner Holding a Wiffleball

Date April 5, 2008

World Series winner holds wiffleballCan you guess who is holding this wiffleball? One major clue is this player is wearing a World Series ring. Look closely, and you’ll be able to see what team he played for. If you’re not sure of the team, you don’t have to look hard around this site to see what Major League Baseball team we follow.

Unfortunately, we’re not sure what year his World Series ring is from, since he won two World Series with this team. To this day, this player is in some way involved with the organization on his ring.

Are you stumped, or do you know the answer? If you have a guess, please post it in the comments. The former player will be revealed in a follow-up article sometime next week.

Update: The mystery person is 1991 World Series hero Dan Gladden.

Frank Viola. Lefty, known for that grip on his change-up.

Nice guess, but I’ll reveal this ‘mystery person’ isn’t a lefty. I thought that aspect of the photo might throw-off some readers.

Please keep the guesses coming! The answer will be revealed in a few days.

If someone guesses correctly, and they have a blog or a web site, I’ll include a link to their site in the follow-up post…as long as their site doesn’t have inappropriate content for younger viewers.
